Three weekly flights will soon link Essaouira and Casablanca

Le 2017-07-07

Royal Air Maroc will resume its activities in Essaouira next September in line with the development strategy for air transport services in the Marrakech-Safi region by strengthening the Essaouira-Casablanca line.
Three weekly flights will link Mogador and Casablanca for this purpose on 12 September 2017 in accordance with the terms of the tripartite agreement signed on Monday 3 July 2017 in the framework of the ordinary session of the Marrakesh-Safi Region Council held at headquarters Of the province of Essaouira.
The two-year agreement, with a value of eight million dirhams, is established between the Marrakech-Safi Region Council (2.3 million DH), the Directorate-General for Local Government (2 million 336 thousand dirhams ), And the Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Logistics (3 million 504 thousand dirhams).
This funding will subsidize these flights in order to solve the famous problem of profitability of the airline Casa-Essaouira. A serious problem that was causing the suspension of this line by the national operator a few years ago.
Mohammed Malal, fourth deputy chairman of the Marrakech-Safi region council, welcomed the culmination of this vital project for the revitalization of the Essaouira destination. The problem of air transport has continued to strike the tourist sector in Mogador for many years, said Mohammed Malal, who said he was very optimistic about the prospects of tourism that will benefit in terms of accessibility And attractiveness. On the side of the local tourist actors, it is radio silence. They do not communicate in any way about this project, and contribute even less than they are the first beneficiaries!
The director of the Essaouira airport still does not have the official version of the convention, while the president of the provincial council and the delegate of the Ministry of Tourism are still unreachable. The latter two have a serious problem of communication to be resolved knowing that they only use language in the context of occasional activities. Hicham Jbari, Mayor of Essaouira, welcomed the signing of this convention, which is important, especially as flight schedules will be adapted to the arrivals of new markets targeted by the city. It should be noted that the Essaouira city council grants the provincial tourism council an annual subsidy of 400 thousand dirhams in order to give the sector a new breath.
